Matcha French Toast
SERVINGS: 8
TIME: 0 hrs, 45min
CATEGORY: Breakfast
INGREDIENTS
- • 8-12 slices French bread
- • 1 Tbsp Aiya Culinary Grade Matcha
- • 1 cup milk
- • 2 eggs
- • 1-2 Tbsp sugar
- • 1 Tbsp butter
- • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- • Fruit (if desired)
- • 1 tsp Aiya Culinary Grade Matcha, to top
- • 1 tsp powdered sugar, to top
DIRECTIONS
- 1. Cut the French bread into ½" thick slices. (If using a pre-cut loaf of bread, you can use the slices as they are.)
- 2. Add a little milk (about 2-3 Tbsp) to the Matcha first, making it into a smooth paste with no lumps. Then add the Matcha milk paste back into the rest of the milk, mixing well.
- 3. Beat the eggs well, mix the milk into them, and mix in the sugar.
- 4. Dredge the bread into the egg mixture, coating each side well.
- 5. Melt the butter and oil together in a frying pan and add the soaked bread slices. Cook each side until browned.
- 6. Arrange slices on a plate with any fruit you like.
- 7. Mix the Matcha and powdered sugar for garnish together and dust the toast with them before serving.
TIPS:
1. While the recipe calls for French bread specifically, you can use any bread you have on hand - sliced bread, supermarket bread, or anything else works fine. In fact, stale or slightly stale bread makes the best French Toast!
