Fried Matcha Cheese Bread
By: Aiya Japan
Creamy, rich, and savory are only a few words that describe our Fried Matcha Cheese Bread. The cream cheese filling pairs surprising well with the mild Matcha flavor.
Fried Matcha Cheese Bread
SERVINGS: 8
TIME: 1 hrs
CATEGORY: Cuisines
INGREDIENTS
- • 1 Tbsp Aiya's Culinary Grade Matcha
- • 3 ½ oz cream cheese
- • 1 oz dried fruit
- • 8 thinly sliced bread pieces
- • Oil (for frying)
- • Granulated sugar
DIRECTIONS
- 1. Set the cream cheese out to soften. Chop up the dried fruit.
- 2. Sift the Matcha into the softened cream cheese and mix.
- 3. Mix the dried fruit into the Matcha and cream cheese.
- 4. For maki sushi style preparation, place each piece of bread on some plastic wrap or, if you have it, a sushi mat. Spread some of the cream cheese mixture in the center of the bread and then tightly roll it.
- 5. For cheese puff style preparation, spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture all over one side of each slice and then roll it into a ball, tucking the spread side to the inside.
- 6. Heat the oil (350°F for best results) and carefully place the bread into it, frying until it turns golden brown.
- 7. Roll in granulated sugar to coat while still hot.
TIPS:
Slightly moistening the bread makes it easy to shape. While this recipe suggests two different ways of forming the bread, you can try any shape you like.
